
My favourite thing about this piece is the way the rounded edges of some very hard pieces of glass can look like the soft edges of some very fluffy pancakes. It's a great example of the potential offered by the medium of kiln-formed glass. Oh, and I also love the swirl of syrup on the top, especially because it took me several tries to get it just how I wanted it (see the exploding pancakes story, “Picasso Prefers Pancakes,” below.) As for those blueberries, I'm very pleased with the result, even though the cold-working took a few millimetres off the tips of my fingers and an hour or two of my life I'll never get back.
